This presentation is based on two discourses: on the one hand, the work of the Colombian collective Mazenett Quiroga and on the other, the sculptural work of the Brazilian artist Vanessa Da Silva. Starting from a reflection based on classical concepts of philosophy, such as body, space and intimacy, we question again the position of contemporary subjects amidst a crisis as fundamental as the one we are experiencing.

 

For the philosopher Sloterdijk, the sphere is the original form that contains the symbolic and mythical force of the course of history. Within his logic, each dimension (from the most intimate, passing through the erotic, the domestic and the cultural to the universal) is understood as sphere contained in a series of other spheres which, as they explode like bubbles,  give way to crisis that release the energies transforming history. In this way we can understand this presentation as a transversal reading of the present in which different dimensions are boiling at the same time and in which changes, that affect all representations of reality, are being generated.

 

Both the work of Da Silva and Mazenett Quiroga are fundamental to digest this current crisis manifested in every level of human existence. From the scientific or poetic understanding of the universe, to methodologies of intimate behavior, all have been affected by an extreme change of paradigms. From this conversation between the themes proposed by these practices, it is possible to access an understanding of the present free of political or aesthetic prejudices.

Esta presentación se basa en dos discursos: por un lado, la obra del colectivo colombiano Mazenett Quiroga y por otro, la obra escultórica de la artista brasileña Vanessa Da Silva. A partir de una reflexión basada en conceptos clásicos de la filosofía, como el cuerpo, el espacio y la intimidad. Nos volvemos a cuestionar la posición de los sujetos contemporáneos en medio de una crisis tan fundamental como la que vivimos.

Para el filósofo Sloterdijk, la esfera es la forma original que contiene la fuerza simbólica y mítica del curso de la historia. Dentro de su lógica, cada dimensión (desde la más íntima, pasando por lo erótico, lo doméstico y lo cultural hasta lo universal) se entiende como esfera contenida en una serie de otras esferas que, al estallar como burbujas, dan paso a una crisis que libera las energías transformando la historia. De esta forma podemos entender esta presentación como una lectura transversal del presente en el que hierven diferentes dimensiones al mismo tiempo y en el que se van generando cambios, que afectan a todas las representaciones de la realidad.

Tanto la obra de Da Silva como la de Mazenett Quiroga son fundamentales para digerir esta crisis actual que se manifiesta en todos los niveles de la existencia humana. Desde la comprensión científica o poética del universo, hasta las metodologías del comportamiento íntimo, todos se han visto afectados por un cambio extremo de paradigmas. A partir de esta conversación entre los temas propuestos por estas prácticas, es posible acceder a una comprensión del presente libre de prejuicios políticos o estéticos.
