Aurora Pellizzi vive y trabaja actualmente en la Ciudad de México. Hija de antropólogos, nació en 1983 en la Ciudad de México y creció entre Nueva York y Cuernavaca. Estudió arte en la Cooper Union School (BFA, 2010) e historia del arte en la Universidad de Nueva York (BA, 2005).
El trabajo de Pellizzi combina preceptos formales de la pintura y la escultura con técnicas artesanales. Su práctica se basa en procesos y materiales textiles preindustriales, desde el teñido natural hasta el tejido en telar de cintura. Las limitaciones técnicas dan lugar a formas y texturas dimensionales. La fibra se utiliza tanto como un campo pictórico como la encarnación del sujeto que representa.
Ha expuesto en Austria, Bélgica, Colombia, Francia, Italia, México, Marruecos, el Reino Unido y los Estados Unidos, incluyendo exhibiciones en el Museo Franz Mayer de la Ciudad de México, el Museo de Arte Maya en Cancún y en el Museo de Artes Populares de México en la Ciudad de México.
Sus exposiciones individuales y colectivas más recientes incluyen «Culebras» con Jeff Marfa Gallery en Salon Acme en la Ciudad de México (2023), «Corpi a Galla / Cuerpos Flotantes» en el Instituto Cultural Italiano en la Ciudad de México (2022), «El Deseo Aparece de Repente» en la Galería Instituto de Visón en Bogotá (2022), «Focus: Aurora Pellizzi» en la Galería Lisa Kandlhofer en Viena (2022), «Transfiguration» en la Galería Canada en Nueva York (2021) y «Serpientes» en l’Appartement 22 en Rabat, Marruecos (2016). Ha publicado dos libros de artistas, «Serpientes» (2016) y «Transfiguration» (2021).

Pellizzi’s work combines formal precepts of painting and sculpture with craft techniques. Her practice is informed by pre-industrial textile processes and materials, from natural dyeing to back-strap loom weaving. Technical constraints give way to textural, dimensional shapes and forms. Fiber is used both as a pictorial field and as the embodiment of the subject it represents.
She has exhibited in Austria, Belgium, Colombia, France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and the United States, including exhibitions at the Franz Mayer Museum in Mexico City, the Museo de Arte Maya in Cancun, and at the Museo de Artes Populares of Mexico in Mexico City.
Her recent one and two person shows include Culebras with Jeff Marfa Gallery at Salon Acme in Mexico City (2023), Corpi a Galla / Cuerpos Flotantes at the Italian Cultural Institute in Mexico City (2022), El Deseo Aparece de Repente at Instituto de Visón Gallery in Bogota (2022), Focus: Aurora Pellizzi at Lisa Kandlhofer Gallery in Vienna (2022), Transfiguration at Canada Gallery in New York (2021) and Serpientes at l´Appartement 22 in Rabat, Morocco (2016). She has published two artist books Serpientes (2016) and Transfiguration (2021).
