BODIES OF WATER

Alberto Baraya, artista Instituto de Visión participa en al 13th Shanghai Biennale ‘Bodies of Water’.

Desde los cuerpos hasta otros cuerpos, climas, ecosistemas y tecnologías, todas las formas de vida están inextricablemente interconectadas y son interdependientes. Cuerpos de agua nos pide que examinemos esta colectividad viviente en un momento en que la tierra se enfrenta a desafíos sin precedentes, desde la acelerada crisis climática hasta la actual pandemia mundial. Los artistas y colectivos participantes presentan obras de arte que exploran enfoques basados en el cuidado que negocian nuestro enredo en ecosistemas extendidos de interdependencia. Un número importante de estas obras, 33 en total, han sido encargadas y concebidas específicamente para el espacio y la época de la Bienal.

From bodies to other bodies, climates, ecosystems and technologies, all life forms are inextricably interconnected and interdependent. Bodies of Water asks us to examine this living collectivity at a time when the earth is facing unprecedented challenges, from the accelerating climate crisis to the current global pandemic. The participating artists and collectives present artworks that explore caring-based approaches which negotiate our entanglement in extended ecosystems of interdependency. A significant number of these works, 33 in total, have been specifically commissioned and conceived for the space and times of the Biennale.
