Scintillae on Earth
Scintillae on Earth is Carolina Caycedo’s first solo exhibition at Instituto de Visión, New York. This show proposes a review of some of her recent works that convey the ability to establish relationships and cooperation between all beings (animate or inanimate) that inhabit the pluriverse in multiple ways.
The show seeks to trace constellations of meaning between Carolina’s concerns about the talismanic properties of certain objects, reciprocal practices of payment, women’s labors in sustaining community life and the environment, and how these properties, practices, and labors are threatened by systems based on power relations that impose absolutist and harmful ways, and that throughout history have been inserted on a small and large scale in natural and social bodies and imaginaries.
