Art Basel Miami Beach 2021

Instituto de Visión participated for the eighth time in ArtBasel Miami Beach 2021, the most important Latin American art fair of the year on the continent. On this occasion with the powerful work of two of our represented artists: Carolina Caycedo and Sandra Monterroso. Carolina Caycedo participates in movements of territorial resistance, solidarity economies and housing as a human right. His work contributes to the construction of environmental historical memory, as a fundamental element for the non-repetition of violence against human and non-human entities. Sandra Monterroso’s work uses sophisticated strategies to mark historical moments of great tension. Using various languages ​​such as performance or video, Monterroso investigates and deepens, from various perspectives, ideas about personal, historical and colonial wounds. In this way, their practice can be understood as an exercise in healing both their own body and history or culture.
