Art Basel Miami Beach 2018

Thursday 6 December, 2018 — Sunday 9 December, 2018

Camil’s work is usually associated to the mexican urban landscape, the aesthetic language of modernism and its relationship to retail and advertising. Recently she has engaged in public participation as a way to activate the work and engage with the politics of consumerism.

Pia Camil represents a very particular vision of contemporaneity as her work appropriates schemes from realms that are not necessarily related to plastic arts, such as informal commerce or illegal econo- mies in order to generate relations that point, in this specific case, to the place occupied by the imaginary of the domestic in society.
