La Cuarta Dimensión
Instituto de Visión presents a collective exhibition in which different artists address the theme of temporality from different perspectives. The exhibition reflects on how humanity has understood and assumed time throughout history, from its own experience and each era has contributed a special way of doing it. Contemporary times have become obsessed with the precision of time and have reduced it to the smallest instances of efficiency, but where have the imprecise moments remained? The show hopes to leave a concern and explore how art has tried to reflect on the dimension of time that we try to control, but that sometimes subjugates and dominates us.
Man has understood time from his own experience and each era has provided a special way of assuming the enigma of counting and passage of existence. Objects have been created to measure it, its nature has been theorized, attempts have been made to cross its barriers by entering metaphysical fields, or its consequences on the body itself, nature and space have simply been observed.
Contemporaneity has become obsessed with precision and has been in charge of reducing time to the minimum instances of efficiency, in order to get the most out of it. In this process, time has been reduced and has become a material good, “time is worth gold” is popularly said, and in this way labor contracts are governed by the hours worked and even the minutes to talk on the cell phone are Do you sell.
But where are the imprecise moments? Could it be that time is a line as history intends, or rather it can be made up of additional dimensions and spaces? Is there life after time?
With this exhibition, we hope to leave a concern and shade some of the ways in which art has tried, from the poetic sphere, to reflect on that dimension that we intend to control, but that in some cases submits and dominates us.
