The narratives that explain the origin and functioning of the material and invisible world, allowed the original cultures of America to communicate through time and space. These sophisticated technologies, which were only transmitted from the most intimate experiences (such as religion, art, death or love) were displaced over time to the terrain of the fantastic, terrifying or wonderful, to give way to the rational and measurable thinking.

Due to this transformation of language, produced by homogenizing historical accounts, enormous amounts of knowledge have ceased to be used in everyday life and reality has been reduced to a single dimension, narrated from a single voice. With this exhibition, which brings together the work of four Latin American artists, we want to open the doors to a multiple reality in which different spheres of knowledge are connected. When the texts were written on pieces of leather and not on paper, it was usual to find remains of other manuscripts in the New Document. This process, known as the palimpsest, was brought into philosophy by Jorge Luis Borges, who was very interested in the way that different influences give rise to fiction. For Borges, a text is composed of all the influences that feed it, just as a body is formed from all the bodies and affects that accompany it. To this extent, each piece in this exhibition can be understood, materially or conceptually, from the other works that house it. Now that it is so necessary to find greener ways of assuming reality, the Origin of the World opens the possibility of asking the adequate questions.

Las narrativas que explican el origen y funcionamiento del mundo material e invisible, permitían a las culturas originarias de América, comunicarse a través del tiempo y del espacio. Estas tecnologías tan sofisticadas, que sólo se transmitían a partir de las más íntimas experiencias (como la religión, el arte, la muerte o el amor) se fueron desplazando con el tiempo al terreno de lo fantástico, aterrador o maravilloso, para dar paso al pensamiento racional y mesurable.

Debido a esta transformación del lenguaje, producida por los relatos históricos homogeneizantes, cantidades enormes de conocimiento han dejado de ser usados en la cotidianidad y la realidad se ha reducido a una sola dimensión, narrada desde una sola voz. Con esta exposición, que reúne el trabajo de cuatro artistas latinoamericanos, queremos abrir las puertas a una realidad múltiple en la cual distintas esferas de conocimiento se conectan.

Cuando los textos se escribían sobre trozos de cuero y no en papel, era usual encontrar restos de otros manuscritos en el Nuevo documento. Este proceso que se conoce como palimpsesto, fue llevado a la filosofía por Jorge Luis Borges, quien estaba muy interesado en la manera que diferentes influencias dan origen a la ficción. Es decir, para Borges, un texto está compuesto por todas las influencias que lo alimentan, así como un cuerpo, se forma a partir de todos los cuerpos y afectos que lo acompañan.

En esta medida, cada pieza de esta exposición puede ser entendida, material o conceptualmente, a partir de las otras obras que la cobijan. Ahora, que es tan necesario encontrar maneras más ecológicas de asumir la realidad, El Origen del Mundo es una posibilidad para hacerse las preguntas adecuadas.
